Anniversary 42mm chronometer chronograph "Snoopy Award"

On October 5, 1970, OMEGA, the renowned Swiss watchmaking specialist, was awarded the Silver Snoopy Award by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States. On October 5, 2020, to commemorate this legendary history, OMEGA is proud to present the new Speedmaster collection "Snoopy Award" 50th anniversary watch.

The watch features a 42 mm case in steel and a blue nylon knitted strap lined with the orbit of the Apollo 13 mission. The silver dial is decorated with blue PVD applied hour markers and classic Speedmaster "Moonwatch" style hands, while the blue subdial at 9 o'clock is decorated with the "Snoopy" medallion in silver relief.

The back of the watch is a fun design! The moon's surface is made of a special microstructure and treated with a metal spraying technique to give it a realistic appearance on the transparent sapphire glass case back. When the chronograph seconds hand begins to run, Snoopy, like the astronauts on Apollo 13, embarks on a journey of discovery around the mysterious back of the moon. The Earth's disc, synchronized with the watch's small seconds hand, rotates one revolution per minute, symbolizing the precise orbit of the Earth.

The back of the watch features OMEGA's exclusive NAIAD LOCK technology to ensure that all engravings remain in the correct position, including the date on which OMEGA received the Snoopy Award (October 5, 1970), as well as the "Apollo 13" date. The year and month of the mission "A Successful Failure". The watch also features a blue zirconium oxide [ZrO2] ceramic bezel with a white enamel tachymeter scale. The watch, which is not a limited edition, houses the OMEGA 3861 Chronometer movement and is presented in a special gift box.
